PermaJet : New year new Double-sided Lustre 295gsm paper

Please read this lines with a pinch of salt. What i write about is my personal opinion and i am just a Happy photog trying to print his work at home. In any way i do not wish you to thing that you should be relaying on everything i put down in words. There are people and videos and online sessions that will explain things better more detailed wether you thinking of printing or choosing the correct paper. Just look for PermaJet online they have a range of resources for you to go through and the team is very helpful and knowledgeable.

THE MESSAGE 

So I have been given an opportunity to try a new paper. Before the end of the terrible 2020 i have received a message from PermaJet that has brighten up my time in this dark moments we all are going through. What is the best thing about it is that the company that will be releasing this paper has asked me about it prior to them having the paper in the shop. I am so thrilled that someone who print photographs at home on a small printer may be usable in any way for a company that specialises in everything for photography prints. No, I am not a professional Photographer no i do not sell hundreds and hundreds of prints and they have trusted me enough to send me some sample sheets  and ask me for my opinion. So let's see…

I have received the box few weeks back and was very excited to open it. I know i was not the only one but was very happy to be considered. So i opened the box and there they were the A3 sheets of this new double-sided paper and a lovely letter. I had to start resizing my sample sheets as i can only print the A4 size at home. And once i had my sheets ready there was the biggest task in front of me. Having to choose what to print was the most difficult for me since i had not many new photos due to lack of time and of course the amount of lockdowns we all had to deal with. I have had a look in The Knowledge (the paper is not there :)) for inspiration and then got to start selecting. Just Briefly i have decided to go for some colourful and black and white photos as i know the Lustre papers are great for both. Previous experience with Lustre from PermaJet give me some very nice colours and and beautiful blacks. Contrast in prints is amazing and there is nothing to the paper that will go against it.

I  can honestly say i do not think i have ever before printed double sided on any photo paper. I have not considered double-sided paper to be important for me as if i print my work i was alway looking at just one side. Now having the option to print on both sides i can see that there is certainly great use for papers like this. I know that PermaJet offers some double-sided papers but they have never ended up in my shopping basket. 

The paper is great i have to say. I am in love with both ends of the types of printing papers where most of my work end up being printed on the Matt type of paper and certain photographs will end up on ultra glossy type of paper the new lustre give me something in between. 

Not going to pretend that i can use this paper on daily bases but working with people and doing some portrait work or fashion photography this will be probably a choice for me when printing multiple shots for my models or clients. Being able to print on both sides will be great for my portfolio as well. This paper has Got a lovely white base and the texture is pleasing to eye and the touch and yes you can touch it without being scared of leaving your fingerprints on your prints. I have done this by accident before and had to reprint few of my photos that was printed on ultra glossy or glossy/metallic papers. What i found great is that the prints was dry and ready for second side instantly. 

I have printed my samples on my EPSON EcoTank and by the time i set my following photo for printing it was already in printer waiting and ready to be printed on again. Yeah i am happy :) PermaJet did not disappointed. Not like they ever did with their products. i can see getting myself some boxes of this new paper once back in some sort of normality and me being able to shoot more.
